America turned 250 in the summer of 2026.
It was a cool summer. Hot, but cool.
The weekend before the Fourth of July, Baltimore hosted Sail250 Maryland & Airshow Baltimore as one of five port cities participating in a national celebration of tall ships, naval vessels, and aviation.
What a cool event.
Our plan was to head down for the air show practice sessions on Thursday and Friday, ahead of the big weekend crowds. We scoped out a few spots with good parking and easy ways in and out.
The Blue Angels were joined by Britain’s Red Arrows and France’s Patrouille de France. Three incredible demonstration teams, all in one place.
That’s something I don’t expect to see very often.
Thursday’s experience was so good that we came back Friday. Then we went to Martin State Airport on Saturday. And on Sunday, we watched again—with family.
So much for beating the weekend crowds. We couldn’t get enough.
We had the rare opportunity to watch some of America’s most capable fighter jets perform in front of—and above—Fort McHenry. A massive American flag flying. Tall ships in the distance. Family beside us.
All during the Summer of 250.
